Washington County Prescription Drug Take Back Program

National Drug Take Back Day is October 26th, 2024. Our team will be partnering with Canonsburg Police Department this year. Stop by the Canonsburg Shop 'n Save at 617 W Pike St #1, Canonsburg, PA 15317 from 10AM-2PM to drop off your unused prescriptions and OTC medication, and pick up resources and complimentary Narcan.‍

Why are we collecting?

Prescription and over-the-counter drugs are the most commonly misused substances by Americans age 14 and older, after marijuana and alcohol. Additionally, over 50% of people who abuse prescription pain relievers get them from family and friends. To make matters worse, the Environmental Protection Agency has detected pharmaceutical drugs in our water supply.

What is collected?

Old prescriptions (remember to remove any personal information from bottles), over-the-counter medications, and pet medications. Please note there may be some restrictions on injectables, inhalers, and liquid.

What happens to the medications?

Once you have deposited your medications to one of the locations listed below, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) will pick them up and properly dispose of them.

The following locations are open throughout the year to drop off unwanted medications for safe drug disposal.
