On March 6th the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania, Inc. honored the Washington Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. Prevention Department with an award presentation. This presentation was in recognition of outstanding efforts and continued dedication to helping those suffering from Problem Gambling related issues.
To quote Josh Ercole, Chief Operating Officer of CCGP, “Over the past couple of years, we have been increasingly impressed with the work that Washington Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. has done to help those in Washington County who are suffering from this disorder.”
Each year a gambling survey is done in the county to gather data. To see the results of the data collected, please see Gambling Survey Results. To help bring awareness of Problem Gambling to the community PSA’s are aired on local radio stations, town hall meetings are held and signage is posted at the Washington Crown Center. In addition, eduational programs are held in the community and schools. Gambling trainings for the community and professionals are held not only in Washington but also in California, PA with a partnership with California University of PA. Our community has several professionals certified to do gambling treatment for anyone who may need it.
