The 2014 Recovery Walk was a success! Over a hundred people participated in activities sponsored by Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission, Inc. The kick-off of the walk started with music written and provided by a member of the recovery community, WDAC Executive Director, Cheryl Andrews welcomed everyone and turned the program over to Ashley Potts from WDAC who organized the walk. She was pleased to welcome Representative Brandon Neuman and District Attorney Gene Vittone who shared a message with everyone. Mayor Brenda Davis was unable to attend but did a Proclamation for Recovery Month. Here is a picture that was featured in the Observer Reporter. The highlight of the program was that inspirational speeches from those in recovery; proof that the programs do help; recovery is possible; and life can and does get better with recovery. Then the walk begin throughout the city of Washington. Each participate got a free T-Shirt with the design around the “Together We Can” was made by someone in recovery with a wonderful talent.
